ADOPTED

AIDEN

Aiden is not sportin' much holiday cheer this season, since he just lost his loving home of the last few years. Just 4 years old, Aiden is experiencing the unwieldy rescue process for the second time. His journey began a couple years ago in a high kill California shelter. He was pulled by a local rescue group and transported to foster care in the Northeast, where he promptly took up residence in Red Sox nation.

Aiden was appropriately placed in an adult home, with seasoned rescue folks, who doted on him and brought out his best behavior. Aiden was loved, and extremely well cared for, and ultimately, his foster folks decided to adopt him. Well into Aiden's adjustment to his new environment, a human baby entered the equation. This transition is often tricky for dogs, and Aiden seems to prefer adult over toddler companionship.

And so, with great sorrow, Aiden's family asked us to find him an adult home where he could once again relax and find himself. He is a spectacular fawn colored Miniature Pinscher, who is possibly mixed with Manchester Terrier, to explain his size of 19 pounds. He proudly sports white tuxedo markings on his chest, and indelible white socks. Aiden has the majestic presence of a much larger dog, and yet he impresses us as mild mannered, calm and easy to handle.

Aiden would be the ideal choice for an active single or couple who have strong dog handling experience with small dogs. Aiden has a moderate evergy level for a Min Pin, but needs a couple of brisk leash walks each day to be happy. Aiden has a pretty calm demeanor at first meeting, but regards strangers warily, until he has enough time and space to size them up. He relaxes quickly, and seems to melt into loving human touch, once he trusts (and, we found that trust could be earned with a few forkfuls of chicken pot pie!!).

Aiden bonds quickly to his beloved people, and seems to seek out male leadership. He has glommed onto his new foster Dad, follows him everywhere, and has perturbed a certain reprobate Chihuahua, named Tank, who dislikes sharing laptime in the Rocker Recliner. Aiden has gracefully ignored Tank's tyranny, proving that he can coexist nicely in a multi-dog home, without rising to take the sour bait.

Coming directly from a home, Aiden has excellent house manners and is nicely house and crate trained. He rides well in the car, and is not reactive to usual road stressors like gas and toll attendants. Aiden is a bit behind the learning curve on basic obedience, but is eager to please and smart as a whip! He is willing to work for high value treats or praise. He would benefit from a formal obedience regime, which would quicken the bond to his new family.

Aiden is in excellent health and neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed and microchipped.
