ANGEL

Our little Angel has a whole lotta chutzpah! Shih Tzu lovers will find no surprise in Angel's larger-than-life persona. After all, a dog breed designed by Japanese Emperors to guard the Inner Sanctum has to have some Huff and Puff! And, Angel doesn't disappoint, she is a magnificent spirit in a 12 pound fluffy package.

Angel came to us from one of our shelter contacts, who had adopted her, but soon was facing an unpleasant divorce and dramatic change in living circumstances. When we met Angel, she had a shaggy, natural cut, that was matted in a few spots, so our groomer gave her a perky summer cut. She arrived with her Eskie housemate, who has already been adopted, and now Angel longs for a home of her own again.

Angel blended beautifully into a rather "animated" cast of canine characters! She has an intense personality that Shih Tzu aficionados will recognize and appreciate. Angel has a tiny bit of the Marie Antoinette complex, in that she will mouth off to larger dogs as though she actually has some girth and power behind the bark! She will likely get herself jammed up in dog park with strange dogs, if allowed off leash. Angel gets along pretty well with dogs her size, although she is an alpha Diva and likes to be the big shot in charge.

Angel would be the ideal companion for an active single or couple, or family with older kids. Three years old, she is old enough be alone during a workday, but she will demand lots of action when her family is home. Angel loves to be the center of attention and thrives on human interaction. She's not going to be happy if she is ignored. She could easily join a multi-dog home, if the dog chemistry works, and she could do well with patient, dog savvy cats. She's probably not the best fit for a home with babies or toddlers, whose attentions might overwhelm her.

Angel has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and has been recently spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed, and is on preventatives.
