ADOPTED

BABY

Our Baby is a real glamourpuss. Seven years old, this pretty lemon Beagle was recently abandoned by her owner to an uncertain fate at a large urban animal control facility where she landed on the fast track to death row. Owner surrendered dogs only have 48 hours to get their bearings in the hectic shelter environment before there number is up. If they impress behaviorists and steer clear of kennel cough, they may make it into the adoption program. Sadly, Baby wow'd her evaluators and received the top behavior rating, but caught the kennel cough after a few days, which squashed her chances for adoption.

We love our Beagles and were happy to invite Baby to join our rescue group. She has settled in nicely and is enjoying the fresh air of freedom in her new foster home. She has just come out of quarantine, has conquered the kennel cough, and is happy and healthy.

Baby has quite the Diva personalty. She is a proud girl, confident and oh so typically Beagle. She is smart, stubborn, and nosy! Well, Beagles are scent hounds and are just about as nosy as a dog can get. It doesn't take much to keep them amused. They revel in leisurely strolls on which they can take in all the wondrous scents of nature.

Beagles can be tough to train because they are so easily distracted by a lingering scent in the wind, so adopters will want to use a gentle leader or no pull harness to keep Baby focussed during walks. Baby is very food and treat motivated, so positive rewards based obedience techniques work nicely on her.

Baby has an all around nice temperamen, and is generally friendly to strangers. She would be a good choice for the moderately active single, couple or family with older kids. She would like the companionship of other dogs, and could coexist nicely with cats if introduced properly.

As an adult dog, Baby is well past the puppy destructive years and is housetrained and crate trained. Adopters should be patient with the occasional accident that could occur during her transition to a new home.

Baby is in excellent health and is at an ideal weight of 32 pounds. Adopters will want to keep her on a nutritious grain free, quality protein diet, along with Omega fat supplements to maintain good health and longevity. Baby is spayed and has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella, and is microchipped and de-wormed. She has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
