BOBBY

Our Bobby is a robust, playful boy, who is a really coming into his own and enjoying life in the country.  He is a striking Brindle coloration, with an athletic physique built for speed.  He is a muscular, medium sized dog, who weighs a manageable 42 pounds. Our shelter contacts suggest that Bobby is a Bully breed mix, primarily Brindle Boxer, perhaps with Greyhound DNA in the mix that streamlined his features, and elongated his muzzle.  His ears and tail are natural, and enhance his exotic look.

Bobby came to us from a high kill city shelter, along with his sister, and running pal, Whitney, where their plight raised quite a hullabaloo on the social media. We agreed to take Bobby's sister at Shelter request, but were unaware that Bobby needed us too.  He was scheduled to be euthanized the next morning. After a flurry of frantic text messages and emails, we were able to snatch up Bobby as well, and reunite the pair at our country rescue.

Bobby, and his sister were picked up as city strays and transported to the unforgiving shelter environment, where their unbridled good natures seem to carry them through the chaos and uncertainty that other dogs can't withstand. The behavior evaluations that these two received were simply outstanding.  They made friends wherever they went, and had many advocates networking on their behalf to get them into rescue and a chance at a new life.  Whitney has been adopted already, and now it's Bobby's turn.

While at first, the siblings were quite bonded, we have socialized them separately so that they could be adopted apart, and integrate beautifully into other multi-dog homes.  Bobby likes other dogs, but may be too high energy to live with senior dogs or cats.

As a spirited, 11 month old puppy, Bobby is at an impressionable stage in his social development. He is a high energy dog that needs a lot of exercise and focused play time. He needs at least two or three brisk leash walks, and even some running, to siphon off his energy and create a balanced slate for obedience training.  Bobby has excelled in puppy kindergarten, and he's grasping the basics of the Canine Good Citizenship program quickly. Adopters will have a blast continuing his training, and helping him reach his great potential.

Bobby has great house manners, and is housetrained and crate trained so adopters will have that tool to use during his transition.  Adopters are expected to trouble shoot potty issues, since rescue dogs undergo such drastic disruptions to their routine that they lose a good deal of their house training mojo during the rescue process.  Bobby has an all-around outgoing personality, and greets strangers enthusiastically, but he is behind the learning curve in some of his social niceties.  He is a strong boy, with a tendency to jump up and plant a big wet kiss on strangers, so the "off " command must be consistently applied so that he doesn't knock Grandma to the ground out of sheer love.

Bobby is in excellent health, and has been recently neutered.  He has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
