BONNIE

Our beautiful Bonnie came to us from a local town pound, after the Dog Officer had been called in to extricate her and brother, Clyde, from somebody's backyard.  This pair of one year old puppies had been ramblin' together through the neighborhood, and were finally cajoled into cooperating with Animal Control.  The pups arrived at the pound in a shellshocked, frightened mindset, nervously awaiting their uncertain destiny.

Slowly, Bonnie and Clyde began to acclimate to their new surroundings. In a short while, the siblings had completely charmed their shelter caregivers, who contacted us, so that we could find their forever homes.  Everyone who met Bonnie and Clyde was instantly smitten!

Bonnie and Clyde are robust, athletic dogs, identified as black Labrador Retrievers on their shelter paperwork.  They are large and  sleek, 50 pounds each, but their powerful, musclar physiques suggest a slight mix of bully breed, most likely American Staffordshire Terrier.  They have distinctive "Tuxedo" markings, with black "freckles" scattered on chest and feet.  We can't rule out the Blue Tick Coonhound in their ancestry, a possible explanation the unusual freckled or "ticking" pattern.

Bonnie and Clyde are available as a well matched, compatible pair, for adopters interested in a big family, but they have been well socialized separately, so they can go to individual homes.  Bonnie is a shy ingenue, who defers to Clyde in the pack dynamic.  She follows his lead, and seems shy at first meeting, but warms quickly into a flourish of puppy hugs and kisses.  She is an extremely sweet, affectionate girl, with oodles of love to give.

Bonnie is a great all around family dog, with good house manners and genial disposition.  She craves attention from her beloved people, and knows how to work the room to get what she wants!  Bonnie is not the type to bond to one person and ignore everyone else.  She will spead the love!

Bonnie is very well behaved and has become an obedience natural. She enjoys her training sessions, and is one of the standouts in our rescue. She knows all her commands and performs them gleefully for praise or treats. Bonny responds to leadership training, as well as positive reinforcement techniques. She's already passed several of the Canine Good Citizenship tests and is ready to go the distance with the right adopter.

Bonnie is an energetic girl, who needs a good deal of exercise to maintain her equilibrium.  While her obedience regimen provides a great mind-body workout, Bonnie also needs time to explore the outdoors, and engage her Retriever instincts.  We have used long line training to allow her freedom to search and retrieve, and she is quite nearly trained to be off leash.  Adopters will enjoy continuing Bonnie's training; it's a fantastic way to bond with her.

Bonnie is in excellent health, and is spayed. She is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptopirosis, canine influenza, and bordatella. She has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
