ADOPTED

BUDDY

Buddy arrived at our rescue, full of S**T. Literally, this pungent boy, was covered in some strain of mammal feces, head to tail tip. He had been found as a stray in a big city park, and was carted off to the clink by animal control officers, for a two week long stay in a high kill shelter, to wait for a no-show owner. When his stray hold was up, he was quickly rerouted to us, where the first order of business was a bath.

Buddy quickly settled into our foster home, where he charmed his foster family. He is an exhuberant, full of life, adolescent Rottweiller, who still has considerable puppy Mojo at one and a half years old. Buddy received good behavior evaluations at the shelter, despite his obvious dislike of the austere accomodations.

Buddy has the playfyl, stalwart and loyal qualities that Rottweiler enthusiasts admire. The Rottie is a powerful breed that owners must take care to socialize and train properly, in order to avoid having boredom and frustration morph into something worse. Buddy has a good nature, is friendly to all, and has the potential to ace his Canine Good Citizenship exam. He has grasped the basics nicely, and will readily respond to the commands of a calm, assertive human leader.

As an active youngster, Buddy needs a good amount of exercise before he settles down to relax. He would be a good companion for an active single or couple who can commit the necessary time to his training and exercise regimen, or an active family with older kids, who are all on the same page about meeting Buddy's needs. He enjoys other dogs, and could join a multi-dog home with well matched, and properly trained housemates, but Buddy might be too much of a good thing for cats and toddlers.

Buddy strikes us as a tad behind the learning curve in puppy manners, but he is a quick study and willing to learn. He will need some consistency in managing jumping up behavior and housetraining as he transitions to his new home routine. Buddy is crate trained, so adopters may use this tool to help Buddy adapt to his new environment.

Buddy is in good health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed and microchipped.
