CHEROKEECherokee walked into our lives and knocked our socks off. This majestic senior White Siberian Husky is a stunning, statuesque dog. He came to us from a rural
Animal Control facility, where the Dog Officer had been caring for him after picking him up as a stray. We recently had Cherokee posted as a 4 year old
male, but have now revised our age estimate based on input from our Vet, who places him in the 8-10 year old range. It's tricky to tell age on an all white Cherokee has all the Husky charm that breed enthusiasts clamor for, but not the frantic, "I'm gonna make a sucker outta you," vibe that gets the best of inexperienced Husky owners. Cherokee has a laid back, aloof personality, and he seems just as happy to explore the woods at his handler's side or to nap by the fire. |

Cherokee has been around many other dogs, but tends to prefer a quiet environment, with perhaps one or two laid back dogs. He is friendly to people and does best with a slow approach that allows him time to warm up to his own pace. |
| Cherokee would be a great addition to a quiet home: a single, couple, or family with older kids, who have some significant dog experience. Huskies are not the
best choices for novice dog owners, although Cherokee is extremely easy to handle, and would make an excellent companion for another, mellow senior dog. He is a medium energy dog, and although he requires a couple if brisk leash walks each day, he is not as high energy as most Huskies we have known. |

Cherokee is in good health and has been neutered. He has a lean physique, weighing 40 pounds and could stand to gain a few pounds through quality protein, grain free kibble, rich in nutrients and omega fats. He was treated for a bout of Lyme disease, which he contracted during his rambling days, but has gone through his course of antibiotics and has gotten past it.
