ADOPTED

COVA

Our lovely Cova is a statuesque Amazon Beauty, with great presence and confidence. Three years old, Cova was dumped by her owner into a rough urban animal control facility, where she was in line for the euthanasia list. Owner surrendered dogs typically have less time to get their bearings and be networked for adoption, before their time runs out. We were delighted to welcome beautiful Cova into our rescue.

Cova is a large, powerful girl, weighing in at 50 pounds. She could stand to gain a few pounds, up to 55 or 60, through a healthy grainfree diet, rich in high quality protein and omega fats. Cova has a strong, muscular physique, and a rich fawn colored coat, with black markings, and prick ears that suggest her primary breed is Belgian Malinois. Her coat is short and smooth, so there may be a bit of Labrador Retriever in her genetic makeup.

Cova is an extremely friendly girl, and exhibits no apparent stranger danger. In fact, Cova relishes human touch, and willingly flips over for affectionate belly rubs. She has already passed many of the Canine Cood Citizenship tests. Cova is a breeze to train, and loves the work, so motivated adopters could easily take her the rest of the way and receive a CGC certification.

Cova would do well in an active household, in which she would receive a good deal of exercise and mental stimulation. Her breed roots are Working Dog, so ongoing activity and obedience work will go a long way to keep her challenged, calm and balanced. Cova would like to be in the forefront of the family, and be invited to participate in family activities. She's not a dog to be relegated to the backyard, where boredom and frustration can set in, to create unpleasant consequences.

Cova would do well in a family with older kids, who are comfortable with large breed dogs, and who are all on the same page about meeting Cova's exercise and training needs. She could also join an active single or couple, and would be the ideal running or hiking companion. Cova is an excellent traveler and would love to join her folks on camping or road trips. Cova could easily join a multi-dog home; she enjoys play, but tends to roughhouse. She could overwhelm tiny dogs although she did live peacefully with a Miniature Schnauzer in her former home, But then, Terriers are certainly larger-than-life! Cova greets dogs with confidence, and is initially friendly, but will not back down to another dog's rude, pushy behavior. We have not tested cover with cats, but she would likely chase them in spirited play.

Cova has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in optimal health, and has been recently spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.
