CYRUS

Our Cyrus is a grand soul in a tiny physique. There is a regal, majestic quality about this dog, that renders him laid-back and reserved, especially for a Min Pin. Cyrus exemplifies this slight yet mighty breed's moniker, "King of the Toys."

Cyrus found himself in an itchy pickle, dumped by his owners in City Animal Control at the age of five, all because of a rampant case of Dermatitis. Rather than treat a skin condition, they abandoned Cyrus to a high kill shelter, where he was instantly at risk for euthanasia.

Shelter vets did several diagnostic tests to rule out the usual skin issues, and they turned up nothing, but did treat Cyrus for a raging flea infestation. We have known many dogs who are allergic to flea saliva, and we suspected this to be the root of Cyrus' problem. And, so Cyrus came to us for nutritional bootcamp.

We implemented an immediate diet change to grain free kibble, with high quality protein and omega fats, and watched as Cyrus' inflamed skin healed before our eyes. This was an extremely simple resolution to a condition that could have been prevented if his owners had provided basic flea prevention and nutritional support.

Now Cyrus is 100 percent healthy, and ready to share his life with a Min Pin enthusiast. He is a beautiful example of breed standard, and has a powerful stance, at only 12 pounds. Like most Min Pins, Cyrus needs sufficient exercise each day, at least one to two brisk leash walks daily to keep him happy, although he is not an extremly high energy dog. He knows when to take a good nap!

Cyrus would be the ideal companion to an adult single or couple, who have some small dog experience. He needs a personality match with an Alpha person, who can provide the exercise, discipline and leadership to keep him balanced. He seems to thrive better in a relaxed envionment, so we think the busy home of a high energy family with kids might be too much for him. Cyrus is the kind of dog, who likes to approach when he's comfortable, and can be come nervous if strangers swoop in to push him beyond his comfort zone.

Cyrus is an adult dog, who is well past the puppy mayhem years. He has excellent house manners, and is housetrained and crate trained, but adopters must have patience to forgive the occasional accident that may occur during his transition to a new routine. Cyrus would make a great apartment dog, and is not much of a barker. He could rest easily at home during the work day.

Cyrus has begun to grasp the basics of obedience training, and we recommend that adopters continue him on the path to Canine Good Citizenship. He is easy to handle on lead, and has several commands firmly implanted in his noggin. Adopters will have good tools to communicate with Cyrus right away.

Cyrus is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
