ADOPTED

DALLAS

Our lovely Dallas is a real heartbreaker. This gorgeous girl was surrendered, along with her sister, Mandy, by a young man, who moved to the big city without first securing a residence that allows dogs. We were sitting in the shelter lobby, when Dallas and Mandy came in, and our hearts skipped a beat. We were impressed with the calm grace that these lovely girls displayed in the chaotic shelter environment. Usually dogs become stressed and reactive during intake, but these girls waited patiently to begin their uncertain future.

Soon after the girls arrived at the shelter, Mandy was adopted, leaving Dallas on the short list to euthanasia. At the age of six, her number was up! We jumped at the chance to bring Dallas into our rescue and find her forever family.

Dallas truly has one of the most lovely, gentle Siberian Husky temperaments that we have ever seen. She could join any kind of home, she fits in anywhere, and has easily adapted to our wild and crazy foster home. Dallas has great pack manners, she gets along with all kinds of other dogs, even ones that try her patience. We surmise that she may even be good with cats.

At six, Dallas' "mushing" days may be over, but she has alot of life and love to share with an openhearted family. Her energy level is moderate, and she doesn't require the excessive amounts of energy that most Huskies do. Dallas is happy to relax with her person, and this makes her a good choice for laid back folks, seniors, apartment dwellers, or first time Husky owners.

Dallas has beautiful Siberian Blue eyes and a lush gray and white coat. She has a bowlegged, knock-kneed stance, that we had our vet investigate. X-rays revealed some arthritic changes and old scar tissue stemming from previous knee injuries that have healed awkwardly. Her stance and gait are askew, but with healthy weight management, glucosamine and anti- inflammatory supplements, Dallas will live a long life with full mobility. All of the diagnostic work has been done on her knees, so there is no guesswork on her excellent prognosis.

Dallas has good house manners and house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during her transition to a new home. She is in excellent health, and is at an ideal lean body weight of 52 pounds. She is spayed, and has been vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza), and canine flu. She has been boostered as needed. She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been dewormed, and microchipped.
