DREXEL

It seems that Drexel's owner has fallen on hard times and could no longer afford his companionship. And so, Drexel was dropped off at the local Animal Control facility where he presented with General Custer leading the 5th regiment of fleas. Believe me, a flea infestation is pretty dire on a short hair dog!

And so, at the age of five, Drexel became a rescue dog! This delightful miniature Dachshund joined our group quickly, and has made us laugh with his goofy grin. Drexel has a significant underbite that gives his mug great character and humor. And, he is such a good natured little guy that the grin suits him!

Drexel shows the signs of severe neglect. The fleas have ravaged his skin and coat, and he was sportin' a whopper of an ear infection. Once we transitioned him onto a healing diet of healthy food and omega fats, his coat revived with a natural lustre. Drexel is quite the beauty now, and adopters will need to continue him on a high quality diet and provide adequate exercise. At ten pounds, Drexel is a tiny guy, and is at ideal weight. He should maintain this healthy weight to avoid back problems that sometimes plague this breed.

Drexel is a cuddly lap dog who enjoys lots of couch potato time, although, he should receive a couple of leisurely leash walks each day, just to maintain his svelte physique. He loves to travel and is small enough to travel anywhere. He is an ideal car passenger and even made his nautical debut during a weekend boating trip. He is consistently well behaved and a joy to have around,

The ideal home for Drexel would be a single or a couple who would enjoy the companionship of a sweet boy, and who value the importance of good diet in his care. He would be fine with older kids, other dogs and cats, but prefers a simple, quiet life.

Drexel is in excellent health. He is neutered, up to date on rabies, parvo/distemper and bordatella shots. He is microchipped, de-wormed and negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis.
