GUNNA

Our Gunna is a dapper canine action figure built for utility and speed! He joined us recently from an urban Animal Control facility, where, just 3 years old, he was forsaken by uncaring owners. While doing his shelter time, Gunna made fast friends with the vet staff, who all gave him glowing reviews. His behavior evaluations were excellent, and he quickly earned himself a coveted spot in the shelter adoption program, only to be booted, once he caught the signature shelter cold.

One short course of antibiotics later, Gunna found himself enjoying our country hospitality, and livin' large. He is a striking dog, with an elegant, unique look, that his shelter paperwork describes as a mix of Greyhound and German Shepherd. He has the beautiful Greyhound Brindle coloring, but his body suggests a compact Cattle Dog physique to us. He is a large dog, 50 pounds, and has all the intensity and focus that folks love in Sighthounds and Herders.

As a Sighthound/Herding dog mix, Gunna thrives on high energy outdoor activities that provide mental and physical stimulation. He is an intelligent dog who needs a purposeful life and a job that will keep his yayas in check. He would be a faithful running or hiking companion, and this kind of high energy activity is just what his Sighthound roots need to flourish.

Ongoing obedience training is another ideal way to channel Gunna's considerable intellect. So far he has grasped obedience basics and has passed the first few tests of the Canine Good Citizen program. Gunna could easily progress to CGC certification in the hands of motivated adopters. Gunna loves his training sessions, and will eagerly work for praise, as well as treats. He seems so proud of himself!

Gunna is an extremely affable fellow, but seems wary of small children. He is well suited to the calmer sensibilites of an adult home, with experienced adopters, who can provide the calm leadership that he needs. Gunna has a neutral temperment, and he needs a strong, loving pack leader to integrate him into his/her lifestyle. Gunna loves companionship, and likes to be included in a activities, rather than watch by the sidelines in a backyard.

Gunna could easily join a multi-dog home, although, some high energy, ill mannered dogs rub him the wrong way. He may be too intense for pint sized canines or cats. Gunna has good house manners, and is housetrained and crate trained, although adopters should be prepared to forgive the occasional accident that may occur during Gunna's transition to a new potty routine.

Gunna is in excellent health and has been recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
