HUBERT

Our Hubert is a bubbly, bouncing baby boy, who just joined us from a local country shelter, where he spent some time after his owners abandoned him. Shelter workers were astounded at Hubert's predicament, and he charmed everyone he met. Just 9 months old, Hubert already found himself a statistic, but now he stands poised at the threshhold of a brand new life. We are determined to help him find it!

Hubert is the ideal family dog, friendly to all, and a mix of two of the most family-friendly breeds: Yellow Labrador Retriever and Beagle. He is the size of a Beagle, weighing 26 pounds, and will likely fill out a bit, as he reaches his Adult weight of from 30 to 35 by the time he is about one year old. Hubert's short, soft coat is a golden yellow tone, with some white highlights, and is low maintenance. He has the striking good looks that could land him a Leading Dog movie deal!

Hubert is an exhuberant puppy who requires some exercise and focused playtime. while he is a well behaved for an older pup, adopters must be prepared for the rigorous discipline needed to raise a young dog. Puppy mayhem may not be everybody's cup of tea, but certainly, Hubert has the dreamy personality that can adapt to any situation. He greets everyone with a freespirited puppy guilelessness, and basks in human touch and affection. He is a bit behind the learning curve, because his lackluster owners blundered his upbringing, and now Hubert needs a firm, but loving hand to take him down the path to Canine Good Citizenship.

As a mix of Sporting dog breeds, Hubert needs an energetic lifestyle, with folks who have time to devote to his exercise and training. He could easily join a family, single or couple, who have "puppy patience." He would be happiest with alot of attention, as well as games and activities that engage his scent instincts and retrieving talents. If allowed to become bored and frustrated, Hubert will become fussy. A busy and tired puppy is a happy puppy!

Hubert has begun to grasp the basics of obedience training, and in the right hands, will continue to blossom. He is both treat and praise motivated, so his training will be fun for the entire family. He could easily join a multi-dog home with older, well trained canine companions, or even a feline home, provided the feline in question would welcome a nosy, pesky pup!

Hubert is in excellent health, and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and had a negative fecal test.
