JACKIE ODarling Jackie O is a true Eskie Diva, an extremely small, 15 pound, miniature Eskie. This petite cutie will delight Eskie enthusiasts, but she is a tough nut to crack...not a dog for everyone. Miss Jackie O is full of attitude! She mistrusts strangers, and will probably not provide a Disney moment at adoption. |
Jackie's story is a typical sad one. Only three years old, her owners dumped Jackie O and her more outgoing housemate into a frightening urban city shelter. Within a week, her lifelong companion was adopted through the shelter adoption program, leaving Jackie to fend for herself. She became traumatized in the shelter and when we found her, she was cowering in her steel cage, trembling and snarling. It is always difficult to see one of our beloved Eskies suffer so much. The ideal folks for Jackie O will be patient, rescue savvy adopters, who enjoy participating in the rescue rehabilitation process. Jackie O has not been well socialized and she will make her adopters work to earn her trust and Eskie kisses. It may take a week or so for Jackie O to relax enough to trust her new surroundings. Her adopters will do well to let her come to them and not force their attentions on her the first day or so. She would be best suited to a quiet home, with a single or couple, who are prepared to roll up their sleeves and do the work that her former owner did not do. |

Jackie O enjoyed the ride home and transfer to foster care. She is settling in well, but is extremely skeptical of her new housemates and her foster parents. No doubt the busy foster home pace is not to her liking, and we imagine that she will blossom more quickly in a quiet, kid-free zone. Jackie O would be great with another outgoing dog, who can show her the ropes, or a dog savvy cat. |
| Like most rescue dogs, Jackie O's training has been sadly neglected. She is at square one with obedience work, although she does walk well on the leash. She also travels well in the car, and is very willing to explore new horizons. Jackie is in excellent health. She is spayed and has been vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. She is microchipped and de-wormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
