ADOPTED

JANE

As hard as we have tried, we have not been able to bring a smile to our Jane's face. She has the perpetual wistful expression of a dog in limbo. Jane longs for the connection to her human soulmate.

Jane came to us from an overcrowded Animal Control facility, where she was in residence after Dog Officers found her meandering around the city streets. The shelter vet estimated Jane to be 7 to 9 years old, and slightly under weight at 28 pounds. Staff mislabeled Jane a Samoyed (really!!!) on her paperwork, but we think she either a Miniature German Spitz, or small Swedish Lapphund. Jane has a glorious black coat, with the characteristic Spitz dense undercoat that requires a couple of professional groomings a year, as well as weekly brushings.

Jane is extremely easy to handle and loves human attention. She received stellar behavior evaluations and quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite. Jane would love to join the quiet adult home: a single or couple, who have hearts big enough to offer an overlooked, deserving older dog the best time of her life. Sometimes quality of life trumps quantity.

Jane likes other dogs and could easily join a multidog home with another mellow dog or cat. She would be the ideal medium energy companion to another mature dog, perhaps, who has recently lost his housemate. Jane has all the marvelous attributes of the calm, mature dog. She is well past the puppy mayhem years.

Jane is in good health and has been spayed. She came to us in the midst of a bout of Lyme Disease, but has been treated and is past it. Jane has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. She has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4snap test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
