JEWELLAhhhhh, the Female Siberian Husky! Is there a more breathtaking sight? Our Jewell has the kind of good looks that makes us break into a chorus of....."Ow...She's a brick...house!". and so we know that legions of dog lovers will be seduced by her luminous blue eyes and icy stare. That's the problem with Siberian Huskies. They are too pretty for their own good. They are high maintenance dogs...to be sure, and not the best choice for the novice or average dog owner. For starters, these stunning creatures are bred to run hundreds of miles and, by golly, they are not going to adapt well to a couch potato lifestyle. |
| Activity and exercise are the keys to living with a Husky. Our Jewell is typical Husky and has the potential to get into mischief if left to become bored and underexercised. She has a dominant, pushy nature, and is brimming with Alpha Diva confidence. | ![]() |

Jewell would do best in a high energy household, in which everyone is on the same page about committing to an obedience and exercise regimen. She would be a superb running or hiking companion for a Husky savvy single or couple. And, Jewell could make a great family dog for energetic folks with older kids, provided that family lifestyle provides ample time for Jewell's training and exercise needs. Jewell loves attention and would not play favorites in a family structure, but would ride roughshod over small kids or toddlers who are not physically strong enough to maintain control over her. |
Jewell has blended beautifully with other dogs, although she is quite dominant and and nosy! She can be pushy around food, but has learned to respect boundaries in her foster home. We have not tested Jewell with cats, but then Huskies and cats are not a match made in heaven. Jewell is a magnificent dog, and will thrill the seasoned Husky lover. As a 1 year old city stray, who came to us via Animal Control, Jewell has not had and real discipline or obedience work. She is highly food motivated, and enjoys the training process. She responds well to leadership and positive rewards training. She makes more progress each day. Jewell has good house manners and is housetrained, although adopters should expect the occasional accident as she transitions to her new home. She is nicely crate trained and rides well in the car. |

Jewell is in excellent health and is slightly thin at 45 pounds. Her beautiful, bushy coat is deceiving. Her ideal weight would be around 50, and she should gain that weight through a healthy diet rich in quality protein and omega fats. Jewell has been spayed. and vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. Shee is microchipped and de-wormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
