ADOPTED

JUNEAU

Juneau is a magnificent Siberian Husky, who at the age of four, found himself a rescue statistic: homeless and with limited options. This gorgeous brown and cream colored beauty came to us from a rural Animal Control shelter, where he had been in residence for some time after he was found mixing it up with some local farm animals. The rural shelter had just been shut down by an underfunded town council, and Juneau was the last dog standing when the shelter closed its doors.

Juneau didn't know what to make of us when we first met. He regarded us with some apprehension for quite a while before he warmed up. Once he gave us the doggie thumbs up, Juneau morphed into a big mush! He is warm and friendly, while still maintaining the Husky mystique that makes Husky fans swoon, but makes mincemeat out of the average dog lover.

We have always maintained that Huskies are not for everyone, and that they require a seasoned handler. For Juneau, we are seeking the diehard Husky fanatic who will settle for no other breed, and who has some good experience working with rescue dogs.

Juneau would be the ideal companion for a young retiree, who is seeking that single dog to share a bond. While Juneau has befriended some other young Huskies in our foster care, he has bullied any who have shown weakness. He would be happiest as an only dog, in a kid free, cat and dog free environment.

We have had Juneau for a while now, and he has been through quite a bit of obedience training, at which he has excelled. He is definitely a dog who requires a strong, alpha pack leader with some physical strength. His ideal adopter will find him cooperative and willing to please, but the laid back person will find it hard to earn his respect. In knowledgeable hands, Juneau will thrive and make Husky magic with his new master.

Like most Huskies, Juneau has an independent spirit that can be a challenge to reign in, but he seems to genuinely enjoy his training workouts. He has performed beautifully in his Canine Good Citizenship training. Adopters should continue him on a vigorous exercise program, as well as a daily obedience sequence to keep him balanced and happy.

Juneau is in excellent health and is neutered. He is up to date on routine vaccinations and has tested heartworm negative. If you are interested in Juneau, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info.
