KITTY

After ten years in rescue, we have heard the same old reasons for surrendering dogs over and over....and so, we were delighted recently to hear something new. Miss Kitty lost her home after eight years, because, with the arrival of a new toddler...her owners had to make room for a Doberman. Apparently, the two German Shepherds, who were Miss Kitty's housemates, were not up to the job of protecting the toddler. The obvious solution was to bring in an even larger dog to rule the roost, and so the hunt began for a Dobie. And...certainly...four dogs in the house is an absurd notion...so tiny Miss Kitty got the boot. And we find ourselves with the opportunity to reverse Miss Kitty's bum luck.

As amused as we may have been by this tale of woe, we were not amused at the condition of Miss Kitty's coat. She had a healthy dose of flea dirt and mats, which we have now rectified with a good brushing and bath. Our darling girl relished the grooming process and allowed her foster mom to brush her for over two hours, doing her best to rehabilitate Miss Kitty's glorious coat.

Kitty is a plump miniature Eskie, who as of today, is on a doggy version of Jenny Craig, with her foster mom, Diane. Kitty weighs in at 34 pounds and should drop about seven to stay in good health. Adopters will need to pay attention to diet and exercise, and will also need to boost her nutrition, including vitamins in her diet to restore her dry, brittle coat.

Kitty has a delightful temperament. Although she was not pleased at being shuffled off like a bag of dirty laundry, she did warm up quickly and reveled in all the attention from Diane's family. She is a medium energy Eskie...not as hyper as some...although she still requires a nice brisk leash walk each day.

Kitty is spayed, up to date on routine shots and heartworm negative. She is housetrained, and crate trained, and has great house manners. She is an ideal companion dog, and enjoys attention and affection. Also, Miss Kitty has had quite a bit of professional training, with letters of praise in her permanent file. She is a very easy dog, and will get up to speed quickly in a quiet, peaceful household.
