ADOPTED

KRIKET

Darling Kriket is a shy boy, who needs a quiet household in which to blossom. He came to us recently from an urban animal control facility, after the doggie police found him trapped in a vacant building. Kriket seemed glad to go with the officers and get a decent meal!

Kriket was a model citizen at the shelter. He presented himself as shy, but easy to handle. He received great behavior evaluations, even at the vet, but he was excluded from the adoption program because he had caught the unforgiving shelter cold by the time his stray hold was up. Since no concerned owner had come to claim Kriket, we were asked to take him into our rescue. Just three years old, our delicate beauty became another rescue statistic.

Kriket is a wildly interesting looking pup. He is a small dog, weighing only nine pounds, with extremely petite features. His breed origins seem rooted in the Italian Greyhound, which account for the spring in his very, very leggy step, and a slightly curved spine. Atop this spritely, pixie frame sits a characteristic apple shaped Chihuahua noggin. Kriket's white and tan coat is smooth and requires minimal grooming.

Kriket's demeanor is very demure, gentle and mild mannered. He would be a superb choice for an adult single or couple, or even a first time dog owner. We think that he would do best in a laid back home, perhap with one or two low to medium energy dogs or cats. Kriket loves gentle attention and could join a subdued family with older kids, but the bustling activity of an active family with toddlers would blow his tiny mind!

Kriket has not had much obedience training, but is an attentive little boy, who responds well to postitive rewards based obedience and leadership training. He has been an extremely well-behaved houseguest, and has good overall house manners. Kriket is housetrained and crate trained, but adopters should expect to forgive some initial accidents as Kriket adjusts to his new potty routine. He will definitely need a hearty winter outfit to brave the elements for his daily constitutionals.

Kriket appears to be well cared for, his skin and coat soft and lustrous, and his teeth and gums in good shape for an adult dog. A consistent dental care plan will go a long way to avoid future dental cleanings and extractions. Kriket is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza) and Bordatella. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis, and he has been dewormed.
