LADY

Whatta Superstar! We don't see majestic Great Pyrenees very much in rescue, and our grand Lady has taken our breath away. She came to us from a rural shelter, along with her younger housemate, Gabby. These beauties could be related, either siblings or dam and pup.

Lady seems to be the wiser dog of the two girls. She is a gentle giant, friendly to everyone and proved herself to be a dream patient during her recent vet visit. She tolerated all the poking and prodding like a champ. Lady turns heads, and win hearts everywhere she goes.

Great Pyrenees are wonderful family dogs, despite their hardwired work ethic. Lady is true to breed temperment standard: calm, medium energy, loyal and extremely loving. She relishes human touch, and would be a great choice for a big family. She will likely assume her role as the family guard dog and protector, but will readily take cues from her people, and settle once strangers are welcomed into the home.

Lady could also join an active adult home, with folks who love a gentle large breed companion. She would be a good choice for on-the-go seniors, or laid-back folks who who love to relax by the fire with a good book. She rides well in the car and would make a great traveling buddy, but she also loves to be home with her cherished people.

At 86 pounds, Lady is a bit underweight, and could easily gain 10 poundss to be at ideal weight. Adopters should maintain a healthy weight and light exercise regimen to ward off obesity related joint pain that plagues the giant breeds in their senior years. She is a large, calm dog, who needs moderate exercise, perhaps one to two leisurely daily leash walks, in addition to frequent potty breaks.

Lady has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as she transitions to a new home. She is in excellent health, and will be spayed 11/10/15. She will be available to go to her home by the following weekend. Lady is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptopirosis, canine influenza, and bordatella. She has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis.
