ADOPTED

MAYWEATHER

Our stunning Mayweather is a poster boy for the beauty, grace and magnificent spirit that is characteristic of the American Pit Bull Terrier. The reputation of this American breed is in tatters of late, due to widespread owner mishandling and malintent. Mayweather's adopters will have a unique opportunity to show the world the best APBT traits, the traits that our grandparents revered, when Bullies were the lovable mascots of our patriotic culture.

Mayweather has a familiar story. He was acquired as a pup, from haphazard backyard breeders, and then hidden from urban housing project management. He was ousted from his home, once he grew into a high energy adolecent dog that could no longer be concealed. His owner dumped him into a high kill Animal Control Facility, where he was shortlisted for euthanasia, despite stellar behavior evaluations.

Mayweather is a coveted blue nose APBT, and is at the prime of his young life, just one year old. He is a large dog weighing 55 pounds, and has a muscular physique and a good deal of physical strength. He has a short, steel gray coat that requires minimal grooming.

Mayweather has remained unaffected by the unwieldy rescue process that can sway some nervous temperments, and has maintained his friendly, outgoing personality. Mayweather loves people, and has the right vibe for an excellent family dog. He is extremely affectionate, and does not play favorites amidst a group.

Mayweather could easily join an active family with older kids. While his robust Terrier energy would overwhelm toddlers, he would relish the energetic play of older kids, and other well trained, high energy dogs. Or, he would fit right into the active lifestyle of a single or couple, who can provide the exercise that Mayweather needs to remained calm and balanced. He would make an excellent running or hiking companion, and could adapt to any kind of pace.

Owners of large, powerful breeds have a greater burden of responsibility to provide effective leadership, exercise, and obedience work to maintain control over their dogs. Mayweather had no obedience training when he came to our rescue, and as a high energy Bully breed, he required vigorous daily workouts to keep his puppy yayas in check. Once Mayweather has a brisk walk or run, he can focus like a laser beam on his obedience work. He is extremely responsive to positive rewards techniques, and is both treat and praise motivated. If adopters continue Mayweather on his Canine Good Citizen path, he will become a much needed Amassador of the Breed.

Mayweather is in excellent health, and has been recently neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
