ADOPTED

MIA

Our beautiful Mia is a robust beauty, who just lost her home. Mia's owners were unable to take her along during their recent change of residence, and left her behind in a suburban animal shelter, with which we have a long-standing working relationship. Just three years old, Mia begins her transition to the rescue process.

Mia is a pretty mix of Rottweiler and German Shepherd. She has the prominent Rottie head, that features a slightly elongated muzzle, in profile. Mia has the traditional Rotti black and tan colors, blended with a touch of coat fringe and a slightly plumed tail, that suggest the Shepherd DNA.

As a mix of two powerful breeds, Mia needs continued positive socialization in her new lifestyle. She came from an adult home, where she was the only dog, and was not properly socialized to other dogs as a pup. Mia had forgotten her puppy roots, and her littermates, and had begun to regard her own species with trepidation. It has been exciting to watch Mia's progress as she has developed into an outgoing social butterfly, who loves human attention, and enjoys playtime with other dogs.

Mia could easily join a multi-dog home with one or two calm, well behaved dogs. She craves the love and attention that the shelter process has denied her. Mia absolutely loves people, and melts right into the warmest of doggie hugs. She would love to keep quiet company with her adult adopters, napping by the fire and sharing a brisk evening constitutional. Mia has a loving, gentle spirit that feeds on positive human interaction.

It's obvious that Mia has been loved and cared for, but she represents the common dietary mistakes that some well meaning dog owners make. Mia came to us weighing 60 pounds, and was overweight, underexercised, and obviously had been fed a diet rich in human leftovers. Now that she has transitioned to a lean kibble with added Omega fats, she has begun to drop weight nicely, and her energy level has increased considerably. Mia is quite close to her goal weight of 45 pounds, and has regained her svelte physique and optimal health.

Mia is a sensitive, mild manner girl who looks to her handler for direction. She is a fantastic candidate for obedience training, and already knows some commands. She's very eager to please and would be a standout in the Canine Good Citizen program once she conquers her dog fears. We encourage adopters to follow through with the CGC program and give Mia a life rich in diverse experiences.

Mia is in excellent health, and has been spayed. She has been vaccinated for rabies and DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza). She has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
