NEMOOur Nemo is a real pip! He has all the joyful high energy that folks look for when adding a pup to the family. One year old Nemo is very much a puppy, and has a truly amazing temperament. After doing his stint at a large, sprawling animal control facility, Nemo came to us with a bright, loving temperament, a quality that is sometimes squelched by the chaotic rescue process. |
Nemo's shelter behavior evaluation was stellar, and he has proven to be every bit the love bug that they predicted him to be. He loves everyone, and is one of the most affectionate foster dogs we have had. Nemo is the ideal addition to a busy family, with kids, who would like their dog to participate in an active lifestyle. Nemo is not the kind of pup to bond to a single individual and then ignore everyone else. This little imp is so attention hungry that he will give everyone in the family their warm fuzzy moment. | ![]() |

Nemo has acclimated into his busy foster situation beautifully and has made many canine friends. He is a high energy player, full of puppy joie de vivre, and gets along well with other dogs. Sometimes his doggie manners take a back seat to his desire for play, and he might overwhelm an extremely shy or submissive dog, but over all, he hasn't met a dog he hasn't liked. We haven't had the opportunity to test Nemo with cats, and he would annoy some cats with his play vibe, but the adopter who has experience integrating dogs and cats would be able to forge a livable relationship between Nemo and his feline housemates. |
Nemo's history is pretty much the rescue broken record. He was found as a stray, struttin' his stuff in a busy urban environment. There is not much history to go on, but, he appears to be an interesting mix of Miniature Schnauzer and Affenpinscher. We see the Schnauzer influence in his overall shape and 15 pound physique, and in his square head with elongated snout. Nemo also sports the Schnauzer characteristic whiskers and beard. Nemo is a bit leggy, and somewhat thinner than the Schnauzer. His overall color is black, with white markings, and his coat is wavy, harsh and wiry in texture, which suggests the Affenpinscher influence. Either way, our Nemo is an prime example of German Engineering, and has the best behavioral qualities of both breeds. He is smart, loyal, fun loving and playful. | ![]() |

Also, Nemo is extremely intelligent and eager to please. These qualities make him a super candidate for formal obedience work. As is the case with most rescues, Nemo has had no formal obedience training, but has responded nicely to basic routines in his foster home. We recommend that adopters continue obedience work to help Nemo develop good house and people manners. Aside from the basics, Nemo could use some work on leash walking and jumping. We have found him to be quite the athlete...which can be a great quality...but not so much when he romps in the mud and then treats his person to paw prints on clean jeans! |
All in all, Nemo is a great all around family dog, and he is as cute can be. His impish face seems to smile at everything he sees, and his brown eyes sparkle with impending mischief. And those ears!!!...well, we just can't stop giggling at them. Nemo is in excellent health. He is neutered, vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper and bordatella. He is microchipped and de-wormed. Also, he has tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Nemo, please write to Denise@EskiesOnline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more information. |
