ADOPTED

REX

Ruh Roh, Scoopy Doo, our grand, supercharged Rex, is a sight to behold. He is a spectacular mix of Great Dane and Boxer, with a comedic glint in his dreamy hazel eyes. Three year old Rex just came to us from a local Animal Shelter, where his owners dumped him with little explanation. Shelter staff found Rex to be a real sweetheart, in need of a dog savvy owner, who can provide the attention and exercise he needs.

Rex is a large, tall dog, although he only weighs 65 pounds. His Great Dane DNA provides a lean, leggy physique, and large head, while the Boxer input broadens the forehead and chest. Although Rex does not look overly muscular, he is a strong, powerful dog, and he requires some physical strength to handle. We have worked on his leash handling, and he responds well to basic correction, and has become easy to walk.

Rex would be a great fit for an active family with older kids, 10 and up, who are all on the same page about meeting his training and exercise needs. Also, he would be a superstar in the active adult home, and would be a wonderful outdoors companion, whether it be walking, hiking, running, camping, etc. He is an energetic boy, who requires sufficient exercise in order to maintain his equilibrium.

Rex loves to be the center of attention, and he's not going to be happy if he is ignored or relegated to a fenced-in backyard, without any action. We would like to see him continue up the path to Canine Good Citizenship, so that Rex can be in the thick of things, enjoying activities with his family. He could easily join a pack with another well-trained dog. We have not had him around cats, but we suspect that he would chase them beyond their comfort level. As a large boisterous youngster, we feel that Rex is just too much dog to interact safely with toddlers.

Rex is progressing nicely with his obedience training. He has grasped all of the basic commands, and responds to both Positive Reinforcement and Leadership techniques. As a mix of large powerful breeds, Rex needs adopters to continue with his obedience work, and help him move forward toward Canine Good Citizenship certification.

Rex is in excellent health and is neutered. He has good house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect the occasional accident as he transitions to a new home. Rex is vaccinated for rabies, parvo, adrenovirus, distemper, coronavirus, leptospirosis. He has been dewormed, and has tested negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been an appropriate heartworm and flea/tick prevention medications.

If you are interested in our handsome Rex, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application.
