REXY

We are Beagle crazy these days, and we are thrilled to have these two handsome brothers, Rexy and Dusty, in our Rescue. Just three years old, these classic Beagle gents were surrendered by an owner whose failing health prevented him from tending to their needs. Unfortunately, he chose a high kill shelter as their respite, where they were likely to become ill and face euthanasia.

Although Dusty and Rexy were brought up together, we have socialized them with other dogs, so that they can be adopted separately. Of course, they also could be adopted together, to folks who would like a pair of dogs guaranteed to get along. They are excellent family dogs, and are affectionate with adults and children of all ages. They could easily join a multi-dog home, and in fact, we would prefer that the boys have canine companionship, because they seem to enjoy other dogs so much. We think they would do well in a feline household, as well.

Beagle lovers will find these two boys true to the Beagle breed standard. As scent hounds, they are nose driven and preoccupied with any interesting smells. While they do derive alot of mental stimulation from leisurely strolls, Rexy and Dusty, also need brisk focused leash walks to perfect their heel command, and work off some of their energy. Adopters may wish to use the Halti, or Gentle Leader, to help refocus the training walk, and differentiate it from the sniffing stroll.

Our Beagle brothers can be a little stubborn on the obedience training front...Dusty, perhaps more so than Rexy...but with patience they will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve their Canine Good Citizenship certification. They have wonderful, confident temperaments, are extremely friendly, and behave well in stressful situations like the Vet or groomer visits. These dogs have great presence, and move through the human world in an easy manner.

Rexy and Dusty are classic tricolor Beagles with random red ticking on their legs. Dusty is slightly taller, and weighs 26 pounds, while Rexy is slightly shorter, and weighs 23 pounds. They are at ideal weights, and should maintain via healthy diet rich in quality protein and Omega fats.

Rexy and Dusty are house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during their transition to a new home. They are in optimal health, and have been recently neutered. They have been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus), and canine flu. They have been boostered as needed. They have had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. They have been dewormed, and microchipped.
