ADOPTED |
ROSELovely Rose takes our breath away: What a spunky little beauty, who promises to keep her adopters on their feet! We were gobsmacked when our Facebook Guru/Min Pin Maniac spotted Rose on the Dreaded Euthansia list in an Animal Control facility. Rose is only two years old!!! How the heck did this happen? Well, her story is such a familiar one, that we are hard pressed to find a new and creative way to tell it. Rose was a big city stray, charming her way through the diciest of neighborhoods, on the stroll for a good meal. In the blink of an eye, Rose found herself in the clink. As a stray, Rose was in limbo until efforts could be exhausted to find her owners. During that brief time frame, Rose caught kennel cough and was rejected from the adoption program.....and slated for the Kill List. |

I can barely tell the story without tearing up, as the dear little girl lies asleep in my lap. And so it goes in the unfriendly waters of canine over population. We are Fantasia's Mickey Mouse, swirling about amongst the ceaseless onslaught of unwanted and unloved canine urchins, as they vie for coveted foster spots with rescue groups across the country. It seems that there is always.....just.....one....more. |
And, a perky little Diva like Miss Rose is a real heartbreaker. She has so much love to give and will surely be the light that brightens her adopters' lives. Rose would do best with high energy, active folks, who understand that small dogs should receive their fair share of obedience and leadership work, rather than morph into a purse accessory in a pretty pink party dress. Not to say that Rose would not totally rock the pretty, pink party dress look, but adopters should realize that "spitfire" energy can translate to "Marie Antoinette" complex, which can annoy folks, and put Rose on the outs with the neighborhood Rottweiler. |

Rose is a petite cutie, and weighing only 9 pounds, she is the ideal companion dog. We peg Rose as a cross between Miniature Pinscher and Miniature Dachshund. She has the classic black and tan coloring of both breeds, with a splash of white across her chest. Rose's spine is slightly elongated, and her legs short, to reflect her Dachshund DNA, but the Min Pin influence adds some strength and structure to her stance. In the long term, this will reduce the risk of back issues that plague purebred Doxies. |
Rose likes people, and craves human touch, although she can be suspicious of some strangers. On her own, she will warm quickly, but if part of a pack of dogs with stranger danger, Rose will emulate pack dynamic. She has not had much obedience or leadership work in her young life, beyond what we have begun in foster care. Rose would benefit tremendously from a formal course and ongoing reinforcement in positive rewards training. We think that Rose could be happy in a multi-dog home with other well trained dogs. She may be too fiesty for cats or toddlers, but might coexist with proper Adult supervision. |
