ROXYSweet little Roxy is such an angel! This tiny, ten pound Pomeranian/Long Hair Chihuahua mix has a loving, unrattled temperament that is rare in rescue dogs who have been through life's ringer. Roxy was caught up in some nasty police business, seized from a neglectful owner and brought to Animal Control. Upon intake, she displayed the signs of severe neglect, including a torrential flea infestation that left her delicate skin red, blotchy and partially hairless. |
| It shocked us that this beautiful sweetie, only two years old, came from her owner's home in such bad shape. In short order, she has responded beautifully to our healing diet of organic, protein dense food and omega fats. Her skin has calmed and her coat is coming back nicely. Roxy is a good example of just how much impact healthy food has on the dog's coat. Adopters will need to continue her on a healthy diet and provide adequate exercise. |  |

Roxy is more of a cuddly lap pup than a high energy dog, but, nonetheless she requires a couple of spirited leash walks each day. She has an extremely friendly nature and would be a good choice for an active family with older kids, or an active single or couple who enjoy reaping the rewards of nurturing a neglected dog. Roxy is great with other dogs and would likely be fine with cats. |
| Roxy has great house manners and is housetrained and we are working on crate training. Roxy can be fussy in the crate, but will eventually settle down. She would prefer to be with her person rather than crated, but can be crated when left alone. Roxy has had no obedience work, but she walks well on the leash, and behaves well on car trips. Weighing in at 10 pounds, little Rox is tiny enough to travel anywhere. Roxy is in good health, and her coat is well on the mend. She will be spayed before adoption, and is vaccinated for rabies, parvo/distemper and bordatella. She is microchipped and de-wormed and negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis.
