SCOOBY

Well, from the looks of it.....if Shrek were to have a dog...it would be our Chihuahua mix, Scooby. We see the resemblance in Scoob's ears! And, if truth be told, Scooby has a bit of the Shrek curmudgeon personality as well. Sometimes, we think he speaks with a Scottish accent. This dog oozes lovable charm that is absolutely unexplainable.

We learned of Scooby's situation from one of our contacts at the big city pound. In fact, this dog had so charmed our friend, Jess, that she asked a personal favor of us to invite Scooby into our rescue. It seems that Jess had found Scooby tied to a tree in a park near the shelter, shivering in the morning rainstorm. She brought him to work and then even though he received positive behavior evaluations, he was passed over for adoption.

So now it's our turn! We have gotten the biggest kick out of Scooby! He would be the ideal companion dog for a single, couple or senior. He loves to be a couch potato, but can also be easily coaxed on a leisurely walk. We'd describe Scooby as a low energy dog, with great house manners. He will easily fit into a quiet home and quickly get up to speed with an adopter's routine. Scooby is pretty low maintenance and doesn't bark much. He prefers to snuggle under warm covers rather than get into somebody else's business, unlike some of his housemates.

Scooby needs TLC and love most of all. Clearly he has been tossed to the curb like a bag o' trash, and this beleagured little boy needs a second chance at love and human connection. He is extremely grateful for any attention, and absolutely loves human touch. We spoil our Scooby with a bit of a massage each evening, and we love watching his little eyes roll up in his head. What a ham!

Scooby is housetrained and crate trained, although savvy adopters will expect an accident or two during his transition. He rides beautifully in the car and, at ten pounds, is small enough to travel anywhere. Scooby is in excellent health, and is neutered and up to date on routine vaccinations. He has a benign cosmetic "cherry eye" in both eyes which has been vet checked and deemed "no treatment necessary". Scooby has been tested negative for heartworm/lyme/earlichia/anaplasmosis.
