SEBASTIAN

Our Sebastian is a tiny tyke with a big personality! It's hard to fathom this five pound cutie battling the harsh elements dressed only in a black harness. Sebastian's ensemble had no ID tag, so the kind passersby who found him were unable to contact his owner. Sebastian was brought to the City Pound, where he was scanned for a microchip, and none could be found. So, Sebastian had to wait out his 14 day stray hold so that his owners had enough time to fetch him.

Sadly, nobody showed, and Sebastian caught a cold that excluded him from the shelter adoption program, despite receiving the best possible behavior evaluations. He was released to our care, so that we get him well and find his forever home.

Sebastian has settled into his new foster home nicely, and we have observed that he has a bit of the Napoleon Complex with larger dogs, who seem to intimidate him. Adopters will need to protect him from his own big mouth, when visiting public dog parks. He seems to like dogs his own size, so Sebastian could easily join a small fry pack in an active home. We haven't had him around cats, but he would probably be fine with proper introduction and supervision.

Sebastian would do well in the active home of a single, couple, or family with older kids, who have small dog experience. Sebastian needs good alpha leadership and a solid grounding in basic obedience, in order to fulfill his potential as a Canine Good Citizen. This necessary aspect to dog ownership is often overlooked for small dogs, in favor of the purse accessory approach. Certainly Sebastian will need a winter wardrobe, but, he also needs structure and discipline.

Sebastian has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. He is tiny enough to travel anywhere, and could easily fit into an airline approved Sherpa bag.

Sebastian is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4snap test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
