Thank you!...and an update.

We are truly humbled by the outpouring of good wishes and donations for our Lady, who just underwent some pretty tricky surgery to repair her broken leg.  About two months had passed since her original injury. This delay increased the difficulty of the procedure and left us on "pins and needles" for a while, worrying that the surgery might come too late to save the leg.  As it turned out, our surgeon needed to secure her leg with a pin, and wire wrap the bone in place.  Lady has been re-splinted and is recovering nicely with Diane.

We had a bit of a scare the day before surgery, as Lady became annoyed with the splint and tried to chew it off. Her tiny pink toes were quickly swelling...and, of course, it was Sunday, with no vet easily available...so Diane had remove the splint herself to prevent further harm. And then, a few days post surgery, Lady was at it again.  Diane phoned from the Vet's office at 9:15 am on Friday: another re-splint.  Now she is e-collared, which she is not liking at all.

Lady also had a bit of an upset stomach, possibly due to her antibiotics is now on a prescribed diet of chicken and rice.  There is nothing Diane likes better than cooking for Lady!

Our Surgeon, Dr. Russell Howe-Smith, and our New Jersey Rescue vet, Dr. Christopher Keefe, worked together to help us keep costs down, and our wonderful readers and fellow Eskie Lovers donated funds to assure that Lady received the care she needed, as well as physical therapy and aftercare going forward.

As a side Bonanza for us, we were so moved by all of the email and snail mail notes that you all sent, updating us on our adoptees, and also, notes and donations from Eskie lovers nationwide -- as far away as California and Arizona.  We really appreciate your kindness.  Thanks for helping us save Lady's leg, and give her a "leg up" on a new life!

Look for Lady's story in an upcoming Angels From God Chronicle!
