ADOPTED

TEDDY

Our Teddy is a genial fellow, whose owner surrendered him to us a few months ago. At the age of seven, Teddy's world fell apart, and yet, he seemed to go with the flow. When we picked him up from his owner's Dad, we noticed a huge pack of ill behaved dogs, and one impressive "lion-like" dog, who attempted to rush us through the plate glass picture window. It was comical that sweet, mild mannered, little Teddy was the one dog in that wild pack who was given his walking papers.

Teddy appears to be a mix of Miniature Pinscher and Norwich Terrier. He has the coloring and stocky Norwich Terrier build, without the high maintenance coat. His short coat is smooth to touch, and requires minimal grooming. Teddy came to us obese, weighing 25 pounds. He has slimmed down nicely to 19 pounds, and his activity level has increased. He has a moderate energy level, and would be satisfied with one to two leisurely leash walks each day, along with frequent potty trips.

Teddy has shown remarkable resilience and good nature as he has adjusted to foster care. He loves everyone, and seems patient and tolerant of routine handling by care givers and vet staff. We think that Teddy would thrive in a calm adult home, where he can relax and enjoy his people. Teddy is the ultimate laid back compainion dog, happy to join his owner on an evening stroll, and then return to the roost for a nap by the fire.

Teddy could also blend into a relaxed family, with older kids, who can respect his space. He would be a great addition to a multi-dog home, and could coexist nicely with cats. The key to Teddy is simply a mellow vibe. He tends to shrink into the background rather than mix it up in the chaos, so we are hoping to find him a quiet home that will allow him to blossom.

Teddy is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in optimal health, although, adopters must commit to a healthy diet, rich in quality protein and Omega fats, as well as a light exercise regimen, and maintain his weight between 15 and 19 pounds. Teddy has been neutered, and vaccinated for rabies, DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis parvo, parainfluenza and coronavirus). He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis, and he has been dewormed.
