TOBYOur glorious Toby is a real stunner! This magnificent, robust, four year old American Eskimo Dog does the breed proud in both looks and temperament. He came to us recently from an overcrowded New Jersey Rescue that asked for our help in finding Toby a forever home. Toby's young owner had an unexpected job change and move, in which Toby was not included. Toby navigated the rescue process beautifully and has settled into his new foster home nicely. He has been well cared for and has shown excellent house manners. Toby has impressed us as a confident boy, with all of the personality and panache that attract Eskie Lovers to this beautiful breed. |

Like most Eskies, Toby has an exhuberance that needs to be channelled into exercise, focussed play and obedience work. He requires a couple of brisk leash walks each day, as well as time spent in energetic play. Toby would be a good choice for an active family, with older kids, that love a "center of attention" loyal companion. Toby is not the kind of dog to sit quietly on the sidelines, but will get into the thick of the action and mind everybody's business. |
| Toby is pretty well socialized, but his former owner had been slack on his obedience work. We have begun Toby on a daily obedience sequence, which he has grasped quickly. He is smart and treat motivated, so he responds to both positive rewards and leadership training. |

Overall, Toby is a pretty well-adjusted dog, nonetheless prone to a bit of the characteristic "stranger danger" that spurs Eskies on to protect their beloved families. Toby knows when to calm down and relax once newcomers are welcomed into the home. He enjoys other dogs, as well as people, and he could easily join a multi-dog home. We have not had Toby around cats, but he is good-natured enough to live peacefully, after giving a bit of a chase in good fun. |
| Toby is in excellent health and has been neutered. He is a good sized standard American Eskimo, and at an ideal weight of 35 pounds. He has been vaccinated for rabies, bordatella, and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and had a negative fecal test.
