ADOPTED

TOBY

Our magnificent Toby is a real heartbreaker. When this gorgeous boy was found walking the city streets, Animal Control Officers picked him up and deposited him in the high kill city shelter. After his stray hold expired, Toby was quickly put on the euthanasia list: at the age of eight, his number was up! We jumped at the chance to bring Toby into our rescue and find his forever family.

Usually dogs become stressed and reactive during the hectic shelter intake process, but Toby sailed through the chaos, making friends at every turn. He received the best possible behavior ratings on both his Vet handling and behavior tests. Toby scored high enough to be deemed appropriate for average dog owners. Toby charmed everyone, while he waited patiently to begin his uncertain future.

Toby truly has one of the most lovely, gentle Siberian Husky temperaments that we have ever seen. He could join any kind of home. He fits in anywhere and has easily adapted to our wild and crazy foster home. Toby is a gentle giant at 66 pounds. He has great pack manners, and gets along with all kinds of other dogs, even ones that try his patience. We surmise that he may even be good with cats.

At his age, Toby's "mushing" days may be over, but he has alot of life and love to share with an openhearted family. His energy level is moderate, and he doesn't require the excessive amounts of energy that most Huskies do. Toby is happy to relax with his person, and this makes him a good choice for laid back folks, seniors, apartment dwellers, or first time Husky owners.

Toby has beautiful Siberian Blue eyes and lush gray and white coat. He arrive quite obese, weighing 75 pounds, but we have trimmed 10 pounds off his frame. He has some muscle atrophy in his rear legs from obesity and lack of exercise, as well as arthritis in his back that our Vet confirmed with Xrays. His stance and gait are slightly askew, but with ongoing gentle exercise, healthy weight management, glucosamine and anti- inflammatory supplements, Toby will live a long life with good mobility. All of the diagnostic work has been done on Toby so there is no guesswork on his good prognosis.

Toby has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home. He is in excellent health, and is at an ideal body weight of 60 lb. Adopters should maintain his weight in this range. Toby is neutered, and has been vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP (distemper, adrenovirus, parvo and parainfluenza), and canine flu. He has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed, and microchipped.
