ADOPTED

TRINITY

Our Grand Dame, Trinity, has known the worst kind of betrayal. As the story goes, her owners were evicted from their residence, and left Trinity behind. Eventually, a startled landlord discovered Trinity, alone and afraid, without sustenance. He called the local high kill Animal Control facility. Just five years old, Trinity was faced with an uncertain future and drastically limited options.

While she once again had food, water and human contact, Trinity was overwhelmed with the harsh reality of shelter life. She exhibited timid, and extremely fearful behavior. Even though her evaluations earned her a place in the shelter adoption program, her shy fearfulness prevented Trinity from connecting with adopters in the shelter setting. She was passed over for adoption and then, caught a cold, that booted her out of the adoption program and onto the euthanasia list.

We were delighted to invite Trinity to join us. When we first met her, our collective heart broke to see such a downtrodden, frightened girl. She seemed as though her expectations of life had been so crushed that she no longer expected anything good to happen to her.....ever.

Our mission was to put a smile on Trinity's face. She has warmed up slowly, and was the model patient as she visited our vet. Now that her cold has been resolved, Trinity is ready to join a loving home, with folks who will restore her confidence in humanity.

Trinity needs a patient adult single or couple, willing to give her the time and space that she needs to warm up to human touch slowly. While she has a very sweet nature, Trinity takes time to realize that she is loved, and that she can trust. She wouldn't be a good choice for a busy family, in which the kids need their Disney moment, but she is well suited to a quiet, laid back household where she is free to be herself.

As we have watched Trinity adapt to her multi-dog and cat foster home, we think we'd like to see her in a home, either as an only dog, or with a same size, laid back, calm Senior. A high energy dog would easily overwhelm her, but she will learn to grow and trust through companionship with another low-energy, calm dog. Trinity is prone to chasing cats, so, we don't think a feline home would be the easiest fit for her. Of course, we have seen rescue savvy, patient, determined adopters work miracles in dog/cat relationships, but this situation might be too much to ask of the average adopter.

Trinity is reported to be a Shiba Inu, with a small dose of Retriever. She is a medium sized dog at 34 pounds, and has a thick, dense, cream colored coat, that suggests to us, a little bit of Siberian Husky. She has none of the bravado or attitude that either breed is known for. Trinity would be a great choice for apartment living. She's an ideal size, and tends to be very quiet. As an adult dog, Trinity is well past the puppy stage and can easily stay alone during an eight hour work day.

Trinity has excellent house manners, and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters should expect to troubleshoot a few accidents during her transition to a new routine, particularly given her recent history. Trinity is in excellent health and has been spayed. She has a tiny scar on her right cornea from a previous injury but it does not affect her vision. She is spayed, has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPPC (distemper, hepatitus, leptospirosis, parvo, parainfluenza and corona). She has had the 4snap test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. She has been microchipped and dewormed.
